What is the purpose of SARS?

SARS is an advocacy against the Nigerian citizens that are protesting peacefully, against police brutality that has been going on in Nigeria for the past 27 years. The people of Nigeria have had enough and they are tired, of loosing their loved ones and being scared to go out on the streets to buy groceries and purchasing other essentials.

The SARS group have quickly become a controversial link to Extrajudicial killings, torture and other illegal activities. The people that part take in the SARS activities, tend to stop people, who then have to give up their possessions or else they will be detained in police custody which possibly would lead to them being held for ransom.

SARS has gotten away with reported cases, such as unlawful killings and a lot of police brutality that has allegedly been carried out by the group for almost three decades.

Why is SARS causing so much attention on Twitter and other social media platforms?

On Tuesday 20th October at 6:50pm protestors were shot at by the Nigerian Armed Forces, that opened fire on a peaceful End SARS protest. One protester who refused to obey the curfew that was imposed by the state government, at Lekki’s toll gate in Lagos state, Nigeria .

The Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has come forward to say that, “one person had died at hospital from blunt force trauma to the head“. The governor also stated that it was unclear if the person was a protester.
