The best way to think of mental health is like a continuum, rather than people being mentally ill or mentally well, our mental health exists on a continuum.

Depending on factors such as genetic make up and up bringing, also life circumstances and the pressure we are under has a major impact on our mental health.

What is mental illness ?

Mental illness is made up of disorders that affect your mood, how you thinking and behaviour your behaviour. At the end of the continuum, we have mental illness which consists of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

What is positive mental health ? Positive mental heath consist of thriving, being content and fulfilled as a whole. We all need to notice the changes in ourselves and other people’s mental health and support one another, along the continuum of our mental health.

Ways you can deal with mental heath

If your a person that finds it challenging when it comes to your mental health/wellbeing, please speak to someone and don’t keep all your emotions and feelings bottled up. With the whole pandemic, it has really open some individuals eyes that people are at home by themselves battling with their own emotions with no one to help them.

Not only do you have to speak to people but find ways that can lift your spirit and make you happy.

This could be walking around your town, or garden and appreciating the little things like a plant that you may have never paid attention to, or sports, taking time to exercise can really remove your mind of certain things, reading books that is with the genre you are interested in, cooking or baking you name it. The world is oyster!

Although sometimes you might feel lonely remember the little things you come across and try and cherish them.

What you can do to help someone deal with Mental Health

If you know of someone that is dealing with mental health issues and you are worried about them, make sure you also tell someone and if you feel like it is life threatening do not hesitate to call 999.

Looking out for someone you care about would mean a lot to the individual in the future. Do not give up on them as there is always room for improvement. And also beware of your own mental health when looking out for others.
